During week 11, my lab tutor went around to every student in the class to see how they are getting along with the report. My lab tutor had also reminded me that for week 12 I would need to create a presentation on PowerPoint for my coursework 2 which I would present in front of the whole class on week 12 Friday. This slideshow is to be only 3 minutes long, with 3 slides so 1 minute per slide. This presentation should include an introduction, my methods and results as well as my discussion and conclusion.
I have to also make sure that this presentation is appealing to the eye and that I stay within my 3 minute limit or I will get penalized.
As coursework 2 is also due in week 12 Monday I must make sure that I am happy with my coursework before I turn it in to uniHub before 12am. To finish off my coursework, I have to now fill in my annotated bibliography which will consist of 2 websites that I had used as well as 2 books and journals. Once this is done I have make sure that my filled out questionnaires go into my appendix as well as they written task.
When I have completed this I will read over my coursework for punctuation, grammar and spelling and make somebody else read over it to double check.
I must also make sure that my title page has the correct report title, my name, my student number as well as my three-digit number on my CD.

Week 10
Week 10 allowed me to sum up my report and write an conclusion as well as finish off my summary. As I have the introduction, as well as the methods, results and discussion, the conclusion of my coursework will gather every time together and come to an decision of which computer is the best out of the two. To write this conclusion, my reasons will be backed up by with results and my methods as well as my discussion. To help draw out my conclusion I had read over an book by Victor Lopez-Jaquero, Francisco Montero, Jose Pascual Molina and Jean Vanderdonckt "Computer-Aided Design Of User Interfaces VI" This book provided me an inside into why technologists find it difficult to meet user needs.
Once my conclusion is done, it is now easier for me to complete my summary which is at the beginning of the coursework. As said in my posts the summary will give an overview of my whole report. This means that it will include something from my introduction section, methods section, results sections, discussion and conclusions section. I had to make that my summary is no more than 250 words.

Week 9
During week 9 I was ready to analyze my graphs and to complete my discussion. I have put my data into bar graphs, and these bar graphs both consist of Apple Mac and Windows PC data so its easier for me to compare them. When analyzing my data, I am going to explain what the data shows and what could be the reason behind why the candidates voted more on either questions. Analyzing my data like this would help me with my discussion. For the discussion I am going to talk about ways in which I could improve my I could improve my research and what lessons could be learnt from my work. By already looking at my results I know that to get a better result from my questionnaires and to conclude my designed question it would have been better if I had experimented more than 8 candidates, as it is not reasonable to conclude on such a question about which computer is the best of the two with just some results from 8 candidates. Also by reading a book by P. Langdon, P. John Clarkson and P. Robinson "Designing Inclusive Interaction" it made me think about the age range I had used for the experiments as there are different affects of ageing upon interaction.

Week 8
By week 8 I have come up with the questions I want to include in my questionnaire and have set out the task for my experimental task. I have gathered together 8 computers and 8 candidates. Four of these computers are Apple Macs and the remaining Windows based PC. I handed out a written task to each of my candidates so they can work on it themselves and know exactly what they are doing as this task shows a step by step guide. This task should take a maximum of 15 minutes and if anyone over passes this time then they leave their work incomplete and move onto the questionnaire. When I did this task I had learnt that it was a good idea to set out a simple task and then combine an questionnaire with it as it will allow me to look at the cause and effect. The task that I had set out for my candidates tests out some of the most used features on these computers.
When the questionnaires were complete I saved each of them onto my USB and the generated this data onto Microsoft Excel so I can turn this into graphs which then would allow me to compare between an Windows based PC and Apple Mac.
When I was thinking of questions for my questionnaire and the task I wanted I had done some research into different Journals. These journals were related to aesthetics and typographic design. In my annotated bibliography, I will include the links to the journals and what I had found in them which relates to the design question.

Week 7
As I was comparing Windows based PC with Apple Mac I had to some research into both these systems before I decide on my experimental task and questionnaire.
I had bullet pointed at least 10 different points on each of these systems and then had thought of my experimental task. This task would be to get a few candidates and make them test out some of the features on the PC and Apple Mac. I would create a simple written task and hand these to my candidates which will show a step by step guide about what they need to do for this experiment. Once this is done I these candidates would then fill out a questionnaire related to the task they had just done.
This questionnaire would also be done interactively on the computers so its easier for me to analyze.
By setting out the experimental task and researching into Windows PC and Apple Mac, it helped me think of the questions I want to include in my questionnaire. This questionnaire will consist of both quantitative and quantitative questions, and once these questionnaires are completed I will generate the data into graphs and analyze them.
This helped me complete my introduction section and method section in my coursework. I had skipped out the summary as I have decided to complete this towards the end of my coursework as this summarizes my whole report.

Week 6
By week 6 I have read over my CD Book and have come up with a research and design question. What most interested me was the Interaction System Designs. As I had selected this research for my coursework, and before I discuss my design question I talked to my lab tutor and my selected choice and he wanted me to explain to him what Interaction System Designs is. This is a good way for me to really understand the topic I have chosen and to see whether I had made the right choice to choose this research in the CD Book.
Interaction system designs focuses on human behavior. It focuses on satisfying the needs and desires of the people who will use the product. Designers focus on interactive digital products, systems and services. Factors such as user preferences, what they like, what they need, in what form they want things are need to design an interactive system. A good design is highly based on thorough user consultation.
Once my lab tutor was happy about the research I had chosen, I came up with a design question which was:
"When comparing Windows based PC with Apple Mac, which technology meets the user needs more effectively?"
The method that I have chosen for this research and design question is Experiment and Questionnaire.
I had wrote one paragraph explaining my research, design question and methods and had shown this to why lab tutor to see if its worthwhile and feasible.
We were given a format to follow for this coursework which follows: Title Page, Summary, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and Annotated Bibiliography

Week 5
Week 5 is the final week for submission of coursework one. I am happy with my coursework and have submitted it through turn it in. My lab tutor had shown me that I could first have a practice submission before submitting my final coursework to see if I have any plagiarism and then adjust this and submit it again. When I did the practice submission, it showed that I had 0% plagiarism therefore I didn't have to change anything and I had sent this off.
During week 5, our lab tutor had given us an insight about our next coursework, which is Interaction Design: Coursework 2. For this coursework it is compulsory to buy a CD Book worth £12 from our lecture that would help us complete it. The purpose of this purchase is to encourage us to invest in our future, by buying relevant books. We are to read through this 100+ page CD Book and to select a research and design question that interests me.
Our research must include an method. These methods can be: Questionnaire, survey, Observation, Prototype study, Case study or experiment.
During one of our lectures, the lecturer had thoroughly went through each of these methods so we can gain an insight about the disadvantages and advantages of these when applying our research and design question to it. From this I had learnt very quickly about why Questionnaires and experiments are good for researches and therefore I want to apply these two to my design question.
