During Week One, as a class we were getting familiar with what Discovering Interaction Design is about. Following this the first coursework was introduced to use via PowerPoint, and this can also be found under UniHub online. Our coursework objective is to design an interactive television with a range of different technology for our own personal use. This would be to design an television with the features that we would want to be included in our 'dream' television. To help us get an idea about what we could include in our interactive television or ways in which we would design it, our lab tutor had shown us an video on youtube.com,
A Look Into The Future: A Day Of Glass Where Technology Is Amazing. Watching this video helped me to think about what features I could include in my interactive television. These features would include a flat screen touch tv, with a very sleek glass design. Webcam, internet access and gaming would be included within my television as well as an easier way to have instant chats with friends and social networking. Once I choose how I want my interactive television to look, and what features it would include, I would thoroughly explain about how each feature would work and why I have chose them. I would also talk about how I would test all my ideas and how my new system meets my own requirements. Furthermore, I will survey someone older or younger than me that would have different preferability to how they would want their future interactive television, and I would design this and explain how each feature would work, how they would interact with their itv, what new concept and innovations they have added and why, also how this user could test out their ideas. My last task for this coursework would be to compare and contrast between these two designs that I have created. I would come to an conclusion about which two designs suits me best and why, as well as how I could now create a better design by looking at these two designs side by side.
Examples from the YouTube video:

These above examples show how images can be projected onto a flat glass screen, and you can also receive instant messages via this from friends and family, which you can also reply back instantly with the touch motion.

These print screens show the technology within such small devices. This is an small webcam, which allows you to communicate with whoever whenever with such great picture quality. This webcam also allows 3 way video chats with sounds, picture sharing, file sharing and much more.

On the left hand side, the print screen shows that you can easily do shopping with just a few touches. On the right hand side you can see the sophisticated technology as future may provide 3D virtual television.
